THE PHILIPPINE Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) XI conducted random drug tests on 105 bus and van drivers at the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal in Ecoland outside a shopping mall along J.P. Laurel on Monday, April 14, 2025.
According to Nephi Noli Dimaandal, the spokesperson of PDEA XI, 80 of the tested drivers were from the Ecoland terminal, while 25 were from the van terminal located at Gaisano Mall.
The operation, dubbed “Oplan Harabas,” was implemented under Republic Act 9165, also known as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002,” and Republic Act 10586, or the “Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013.” The initiative aims to curb road accidents caused by drivers under the influence of dangerous drugs.
Dimaandal said the drivers who test positive for drug use will face sanctions from the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
As of this writing, the PDEA XI has yet to release the results of the drug test.
