BRIGADIER General Felix Ronnie Babac, commander of the 1001st Infantry (Pag-asa) Brigade, is pushing for unified effort against communist rebels and private armies as part of a peace covenant for a peaceful 2025 elections in Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro.
Babac voiced strong support for the joint efforts of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to foster unity and commitment among political candidates and their supporters.
This initiative aims to ensure peaceful and fair midterm elections through the signing of a “peace covenant” in Davao de Oro and Davao del Norte on March 17 and 19, 2025, respectively.
In his message, Brigadier General Babac urged all candidates and local leaders to unite in securing a transparent and peaceful electoral process.
He emphasized the 1001st Infantry Brigade’s commitment to upholding democracy through H.O.P.E. (Honest, Orderly, and Peaceful Elections), ensuring the safety and security of voters, candidates, and poll workers for S.A.F.E. (Secured, Authentic, and Fair Elections), and defending the true will of the Filipino people so that election results accurately reflect the electorate’s voice.
Before the official signing, Babac proposed an essential addition to the peace covenant: a pledge from all political candidates and their supporters to “never support or engage with any Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) or Private Armed Group (PAG) that seeks to destabilize the government or disrupt the peaceful conduct of the 2025 elections.”
The signing of the peace covenant is a crucial step in ensuring the 2025 elections are free from violence and destabilizing forces while upholding the rule of law and the integrity of the electoral process.
