MORE THAN 10,000 security forces were deployed on Monday to ensure an orderly and peaceful Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections on Oct. 30.

The simultaneous multi-agency send-off ceremony was conducted at the Police Regional Office XI parade grounds that will serve on Monday’s election.

The deployed personnel consisted of 7,288 from the Police Regional Office XI; 3,195 from the 10th Infantry Division; and 139 from the Philippine Coast Guard with a total of 10,622.

In addition, Department of Education employees were officially endorsed to carry out their election duties.

In a press conference after the ceremony, Lawyer Gay Enumerables, acting director of the Commission on Elections XI, said they are all ready for Monday after completing the briefing of the teachers who will render duty at their designated precincts.

“Super ready for the distribution of election paraphernalia on the election day and earlier before the election,” she added.

She further said they encountered no other problems during the preparation other than candidates violating the previously agreed common poster areas. 

“Although, pag inform sa ila, gitangal na nila,” she added.

The Comelec official also thanked the security sectors and the DepEd for their support in achieving the desired safe, orderly, and clean elections.

The PRO XI and its allied safekeeping forces hoped to prevent any election-related violence or incidents. In Davao Region, 11 barangays are identified as “areas of concern,” ten of which are in Davao del Sur.

These are the barangays of Kapatagan and Tres de Mayo in Digos; Litos, Tanwalang, and Talas in Sulop; Tamlangon and Poblacion in Matanao; Maibo in Magsaysay; Aplaya and Clib in Hagonoy. The last barangay is Ompao in Tarragona in Davao Oriental.
