PNP denies regional director’s request to reassign 45 Davao police personnel

THE PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) headquarters has rejected the request by Police Regional Office XI (PRO XI) to reassign 45 personnel, including 17 officers and 28 non-commissioned officers to Camp Crame.

PRO XI spokesperson Major Catherine Dela Rey confirmed on Monday that the PNP headquarters deemed the request to assign them temporarily to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) in Camp Crame is “not feasible at this time.”

However, she did not rule out the possibility of the reassignment happening in the future if the guidelines change.

The request, detailed in a leaked memo, prompted PRO XI director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III  to order an internal investigation into who disclosed the confidential document. Torre has declined to comment on the matter, stating that it is an internal PNP affair.

However, Major Dela Rey clarified that the memo was merely a request and should not have been made public.

The affected personnel included relieved police station commanders and officers from various police stations and offices within Davao City and the region.

Major Dela Rey emphasized that reassignments within the PNP are common and can occur at any time, for various reasons such as pending cases, schooling, or awaiting new assignments.
