La Herencia art exhibition seeking more Luzon-based artists

THE KINGKOY 2 will invite more artists from Luzon to future art exhibitions to showcase their talents at La Herencia.

During the PEP Talks at SM Lanang, Red Genotiva, Davao curator, said they hope to invite artists from Luzon since the only exhibitors are from Visayas and Mindanao.

Pero naa pay mga artists na invite nagdagko sa Visayas, Cebu, pero naga based pud sa Manila,” he said.

KINGKOY 2 aims to showcase the liberal art and pop surrealism of old cartoons and comics from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s.

Genotiva also added that they are planning for Kingkoy to be an annual event to continue showcasing the works of Filipino artists. The first Kingkoy was conducted in 2020 but the plan to hold an event was delayed by COVID-19.

“Months lang jud before sa pandemic. So murag na delay delay lang siya, so karon lang jud mi nakabalik,” he said.

The KINGKOY 2 art exhibition kicked off on April 15 at La Herencia and will end on April 21. The art exhibits featured nostalgic cartoons and comics of the 43 artists in the Philippines.
