Four NPA rebels surrender in Bukidnon

FOUR communist New People’s Army (CNTs) rebels brought along firearms when they surrendered to the 56th Infantry Battalion (56IB) in Barangay Salawagan, Quezon, Bukidnon on April 23.

The four CNTs, led by Muloy alias Sab-a, belonged to the Sub-Regional Sentro De Grabidad (SRSDG) Peddler, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC).

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Emmanuel P Garcia, 56IB commanding officer, credited the success of the surrender to a Civil-Military Operations (CMO) program called Project BOSS.

“The 56IB conducted Project BOSS, which strategically focused on engaging the families and relatives of active CNTs in different units within the Talaingod region. By collaboratively integrating intelligence units, the 56IB effectively orchestrated a campaign that resonated with individuals considering a new path away from conflict,” Garcia added.

Major General Allan D. Hambala, commander of the 10th Infantry Division, praised the 56IB for effectively implementing Project BOSS.

He believes the program can encourage remaining NPA members to return to civilian life and rejoin society.
