DSWD XI to celebrate 73rd anniversary

THE DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development XI celebrates its 73rd-anniversary “DSWD Onselebrasyon” with week-long activities from April 15-19.

During the Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM Ecoland, Gemma Dela Cruz, chief of the DSWD XI Protective Services Division, said this year’s anniversary will carry the theme, “DSWD Angels in Red Vests: Empathy on Action, Integrity in Service, Unity in Community.”

According to Atty. Vanessa Goc-Ong, DSWD XI regional director, the week-long celebration is open to the public. The activities are geared toward environmental justice, and a culmination to recognize the awardees who contributed greatly to implementing the agency’s programs and services.

“We invited mga third year students taking up social work para they get to feel also what are the works, the systems, and mechanisms of DSWD,” she said.

The anniversary activities were initiated on April 15 during the Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM Ecoland where they announced the anniversary and updates of DSWD. From April 16 to 18, the activities are food fairs, thanksgiving mass, advocacy day and others will be held at their Regional Office. 

Finally, April 19, the last day of activities, will be composed of tree planting and growing at 8 a.m. at Barangay Bucana and a “Panata and Praise Ceremony” at the Ritz Hotel at 1 pm.
