DOLE XI beneficiaries receive grants at Kadiwa Fair

THE DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI, Public Employment and Services Office (PESO), and City Agriculturist Office (CAgrO) conducted a Kadiwa Fair to give livelihood grants to various beneficiaries on Apr. 29 at Rizal Park, Davao City.

The event was part of the 122nd Labor Day commemoration and was attended by beneficiaries under Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), and other participating vendors.

In an interview, DOLE XI regional director Randolf Pensoy said the 950 TUPAD beneficiaries were given a minimum wage of P462 daily for 5-10 days, and the participating vendors during the fair will also receive the same value for the same period.

“The point of the program is for them to sell their products at a cheaper price and still generate profit from it. they don’t need to add much of its cost because they will still get a salary from this depending on their program and proposal,” he said.

As for the livelihood program, more than P2 million in grants were given to 22 beneficiaries–a total of P1.9 million grant under the Integrated Livelihood Program was given for the projects of the BSDI Employees Association and the Kasamahan ng Mananahi Association; and a total of P550,000 in assistance was also given to 20 individuals.

DOLE XI also conducted its annual Labor Day Job Fair on May 1 at SM Ecoland, Gaisano Grand Mall Digos, and Gaisano Grand Mall Tagum.
