VP Sara’s presence in House drug war hearing a dry run for presidency: FPRRD

VICE PRESIDENT Sara Duterte showed up to support her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who testified at the House quad committee hearing on the war on drugs launched by the previous administration on Nov. 13.

However, the 79-year-old saw her presence as a good practice if she would run for the presidency, particularly in managing several personalities.

In a media interview, Duterte admitted that he didn’t know the reason for his daughter’s presence but believed that VP Sara just wanted to attend as a lawyer.

He also added that she may be already practicing for the potential leadership of the country in the future so she would be familiar with the system in case she becomes president.

During the hearing, VP Sara urged the committee to allow her father to take a break from the lengthy session after 14 hours of grilling from the members.

In a statement, Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod (HTLP) said it stands strong in support of FPRRD’s legacy, defending his decisive leadership that prioritized the safety and well-being of every Filipino.

“We remain united in honoring a president who put the country’s security first,” it added.
