VP Sara will not watch PBBM’s SONA: statement

VICE PRESIDENT Sara Duterte won’t watch President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s third State of the Nation Address as she plans to empathize with the Boholanos for the death of their vice governor.

The statement posted by Valiente News on July 22, the official media source of the Office of the Vice President, said that “The Vice President will not watch the SONA on TV or gadgets.”

“She is currently in Bohol to empathize with the Boholanos for the death of their Vice Governor, as well as to uplift the general mood of the people brought about by the suspension of their duly-elected local officials,” the statement reads.

Last July 17, during an interview in Cebu media, Duterte said she would not be attending the SONA as she appointed herself as a “self-designated survivor”, and clarified that the statement “was not a joke.”

Dili to siya joke, dili pod to siya bomb threat. I think many missed the point so para sa akoa kung wala ka kasabot the first time, I don’t think you deserve an explanation,” she said.

Duterte also noted in a press conference that “resignation is not because of weakness but because of true concern for teachers and the youth.”

The vice president resigned from the cabinet of the President, and had also recently stepped down as the secretary of the Department of Education and vice-chair of the Anti-Insurgency Task Force.
