VP Sara says P6-B drug rumors a political attack

Vice President Sara Duterte has dismissed the allegations linking her husband, Atty. Mans Carpio, and her brother, Congressman Paolo Duterte, to a 2018 drug smuggling case involving P6 billion worth of shabu as “political harassment and political attacks.”

Carpio, Congressman Duterte, and former presidential economic adviser Michael Yang have been connected to the 2018 drug smuggling case.

VP Sara described the accusations as “political harassment and political attacks,” noting that these claims emerged after she left the Department of Education and began addressing national issues.

“Unfortunately, I cannot speak for Congressman Polong Duterte. I understand he has made statements addressing this matter,” she said.

“My husband and I have agreed that he will respond to issues concerning him, and I will address those concerning me, to ensure clarity,” she added.

She urged the public to concentrate on the country’s core issue: poverty and the high cost of basic necessities.

“I hope people do not forget that our real problem is poverty and the struggle to afford food. This is the fundamental issue and need of the nation today,” she said. “I hope they won’t be swayed by the noise but instead focus on the true problems facing our country—poverty and the difficulty in purchasing affordable food.”
