A VLOGGER appeared before the San Pedro Police Station to claim the drone found at a boarding house in Palma Gil Street, Barangay 34-D, on March 21.
Alias Negger, a 27-year-old school clerk and resident of Valencia City, Bukidnon, said he was temporarily staying at the condominium and wasn’t aware of the Drone Regulation Ordinance in the city.
The San Pedro Police Station, headed by its commander Major Marvin Hugos, confiscated the drone. According to the “Drone Regulation Ordinance of Davao City,” passed on Nov. 24, 2020, all operators must register and obtain a permit from the local government before they can fly their drones.
Meanwhile, drones weighing seven kilograms (15 pounds) and above must receive certification from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) before they are allowed to operate.
The ordinance was created as a preventive measure against potential terrorist attacks using drones. Hugos said the vlogger may be penalized and his drone confiscated.
