Residents of Barangay Tamugan have sought government intervention on a right-of-way issue that will affect access to electricity.
In a letter addressed to Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte, Tamugan Punong Barangay Deomedes dela Cruz, said Mr. Joseph Go, president of Kobe Ranch, has been denying his constituents their wish for electric poles in the area.
The installation of the secondary electrical lines covers roughly around three kilometers from the highway junction up to Sitio Pagan, specifically the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines towers. It has already been approved by the DLPC.
He said that this was not the first time the residents and barangay officials were at loggerheads with Mr. Go.
The said ranch is located at corner Davao-Bukidnon Highway and Sitio Pagan Drier.
“The residents of Sitio Pagan drier and onwards have already suffered for quite a long time due to the non-cooperation of Mr. Go due to right-of-way issues,” the letter read.
For instance, the landowner reportedly denied the farm-to-market road implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways. The plan was to lay concrete on the 550-meter road leading to Sitio Pagan Drier.
“The residents of this area was again denied of its basic commodities such as electricity because of his (Go) refusal to have Davao Light and Power Corp.’s secondary lines installed leading to Sitio Pagan,” Dela Cruz said.
Dela Cruz said Go’s action hindered the development of the village. The barangay also gathered signatures of the residents and affixed the document to the petition letter sent to the vice mayor.
The barangay also passed a resolution but the businessman reportedly ignored the notice of conference issued by the Barangay Council.
The council referred the matter to the Committee on Public Works and Highways.
