THE CITY Economic Enterprise (CEE) advised the vendors to secure the necessary permits to be allowed to sell goods and food for All Saints’ Day and All Souls Day.
CEE officer-in-charge Novelle Paragas said only vendors who secured special permits from the City Mayor’s Office can display and sell goods whether within the premises or in the vicinity of the cemeteries.
Apart from the special permit, vendors must also secure health certificate cards and sanitary permits from the City Health Office.
Paragas said the office will conduct education and awareness drives to assist the vendors in securing the documents.
“There will be an orientation and the safety and security cluster and City health office will discuss the guidelines for them,” Paragas said during the iSpeak forum on Oct 19.
Vendors must visit the management office of the public or private cemeteries to obtain an “intent to sell application form before Oct. 25. The CEE will check the availability of slots and then provide applicants with the necessary requirements to fulfill.
The slots are first-come, first-served basis, but vendors can apply for another slot.
“After makuha ang requirements, you will comply na, kasi 2-3 days kuhaon ang special permit,” Paragas said.
The official laid out the implementing guidelines for the vendors, which include the prohibition of selling alcoholic beverages, ukay-ukay, skewers (food on sticks), and pointed objects such as knives and scissors.
Moreover, using sidewalks for cooking food and customer dining is also prohibited to avoid obstructing pedestrians.
Food vendors must offer alternatives for plastic utensils, straws, stirrers, and cups. Non-compliance will violate the No to Single-Use Plastic Ordinance and be subjected to penalties.
Vendors are told to provide their own trash bins for biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and recyclable for proper waste segregation, and shall apply “clean as you go” at all times.
Paragas said empty plastic bottles must be deposited at the area designated by the Ancillary Services Unit. Appropriate garbage collection points will be determined by the City Environment and Natural Resources.
