- PDEA XI destroys ₱27.5 million worth of illegal drugs in Davao City
THE PHILIPPINE Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office (PDEA) XI incinerated ₱27,585,366.60 worth of seized and surrendered illegal drugs at approximately 9 a.m. in Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes, J. Camus Extension, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
PDEA XI regional director Edgar T. Jubay spearheaded the activity in coordination with the Philippine National Police in line with the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act No. 9165) and Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 1, Series of 2002.
Among the substances destroyed were:
- 3,409.9231 grams of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), with an estimated street value of ₱23,187,477.08
- 26,828.0029 grams of marijuana, valued at ₱3,219,360.35;
- 126 pieces of marijuana plants, valued at ₱25,200.00; and
- Expired medicines valued at ₱1,153,329.17.
Witnesses included Regional Trial Court-Davao del Sur Executive Judge Maria Fe D. Orig-Maloloy-On, representatives from the Department of Justice, Public Attorney’s Office, Police Regional Office XI, National Bureau of Investigation, Environmental Management Bureau, local elected officials, civil society organizations, and members of the media.
In a statement, PDEA said the incineration underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to its intensified anti-drug campaign and to dispel lingering public doubts regarding the recycling of confiscated drugs by law enforcement agencies.
