‘Unlucky’ looters

A COFFEE shop owned by a well-known content creator, Rowell Divina, was burglarized in Toril District on Sunday, Oct. 21.

However, he quickly made light of the situation by saying they targeted the wrong business since they earned zero sales that day, so they did not even get a single peso.

In a post, Divina expressed his frustration and anger about the incident. But he wished in jest that the burglars would get “suyà” (a Visayan term that roughly translates to “bad luck” or a “curse”).

Divina also complained about the mess the burglars left behind in his coffee shop, saying that the “lazy thieves and weeds of society” only gave him extra cleaning to do.

According to Divina’s latest post, he has already filed a police report to identify those responsible for the burglary.

Some netizens also expressed concern about the series of crimes, particularly burglaries, happening in Davao City.

Recently, Mayor Sebastian Duterte asked the Davao City Police Office to explain the alleged rising theft and robbery incidents since July this year.

He said the recent City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) meeting raised the same concern about the increase in crimes, particularly robbery.

Davao City Police Office spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon earlier conceded the slight increase in theft incidents, she said the police solved most cases reported to them.
