About 41-K national identification cards in Davao undelivered: PSA XI
THE PHILIPPINE Statistics Authority (PSA) XI noted that about 41,047 national identification cards in the Davao Region were returned by PHLPost due to the unavailability of receivers.
During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on July 23, Adeline Batucan, PSA-Davao del Sur Provincial Statistical Office officer-in-charge, said out of the 41,000, the office had already delivered 19,151 physical IDs.
“Sometimes when PHLPost attempts to deliver physical IDs in respective houses, the owner is always not around. PhlPost would only deliver IDs thrice. After that, PhlPost will return these IDs to the PSA office,” Batucan said.
PSA XI noted that 13,470 of the total number were undelivered due to location challenges.
The physical IDs have already undergone three attempts and 30 days in the PHLPost office.
Baby Jean Alid, PSA XI Civil Registration and Administrative Services Division officer-in-charge, said the undelivered IDs could also be accessed through their provincial offices nearest to the individual’s address.
“You can also call first the PSA office before visiting to ensure your ID is available to claim,” Alid said.
Alid clarified that the physical IDs, the paper or ePhilIDs, and the digital could be utilized as valid proof of identities.
“For replacement, pumunta lang sa mga registration centers, dalhin ‘yung physical ID and surrender it, ipapadala sa central office for reprinting, and mapapalitan na siya. Usually, this would take more than three months,” she added.
Meanwhile, Maria Leah C. Magracia, PSA XI Statistical Operations and Coordination Division officer-in-charge, noted that a cumulative total of 4.5 million Filipinos have registered in the National ID in Davao Region.
“Of this, two million registered persons have received their ePHILIDs through requests made at registration centers, plaza-type distributions, and house-to-house delivery. Three million National IDs have been delivered in Region XI by PHLPost,” Magracia said.
Magracia also said a total of 25,286 children aged 1-4 years old were already registered to PhilSys in Davao Region.
The Republic Act 11055 or the Philippine Identification System Act was signed by former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Aug. 6, 2018. It is “an act establishing a single national identification system that aims to provide a valid proof of identity for Filipino citizens and resident aliens of the Philippines.”
