The Central 911 acquired two brand new L39 Rosenbauer ladder trucks, which helped to improve emergency response during emergency situations, particularly on high-rise buildings.
Central 911 chief Emmanuel Jaldon said the ladder trucks will be utilized to rescue people trapped inside buildings during fire and earthquake incidents.
He also said that the ladder trucks can reach up to the 16th floor of a building. Each ladder truck can also carry up to four people at a time.
The purchase of the ladder trucks, Jaldon said, was decided after the fire incident that hit NCCC mall building along MacArthur Highway in December 2017.
“That (NCCC fire incident) is one of the reasons. There are also other infrastructure developments in the city. Our buildings are getting higher, so we need to be equipped for any eventualities,” he said.
He also emphasized the need for an equipment upgrade since the city is also fast-developing. He also bared that another ladder truck is coming.
“The idea is to have three ladder trucks to cover the three sides of the building,” he said.
Austrian Embassy Commercial Counselor Christina Stieber said that Rosenbauer is a well-known company in Austria and a trusted firm for fire trucks and ladder industry. “This is the first time that Davao City purchased equipment from Rosenbauer. This is equipped for the road networks of Davao City and can be very useful in case of rescue operations,” Stieber said.
Stieber was in the city to grace the turnover of the two brand new Rosenbauer ladder trucks.
