THE CITY Tourism Operations Office has reiterated its call for organizers of all meetings, incentive travel, conventions/conferences, exhibitions/events (MICE) to secure their special mayor’s permit from the Business Bureau 15 days before their scheduled events.
City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) officer-in-charge Generose Tecson said that MICE organizers are required to get a special mayor’s permit.
For meetings and conventions/conferences with local or regional attendees or with less than 100 participants, the event organizer must submit a business permit and tourism license of the organizer and venue and a comprehensive event plan to licensing2021@gmail.com.
Once approved, a certification will be sent to the organizer to be presented to the Business Bureau.
Tecson said, “Meron na yang proforma ng comprehensive event plan ang mga hotels and event organizers. We just want to know in a capsule ano mga emergency plans nila (Hotels and event organizers already have a proforma of a comprehensive event plan. We just want to know in a capsule what their emergency plans are).”
But for meetings, conventions/conferences with over 100 attendees that are national or international in scope; incentive travel, and other events, the event organizer must submit a business permit and tourism license, event organizer’s profile to include events organized, dates, and the number of participants to licensing2021@gmail.
A brief description of the event, minimum public health standards (MPHS) and implementation plan; security and safety plans; and layout (including actual measurements of floor area) must also be submitted.
Tecson also said a meeting with the Public Safety & Security Command Center (PSSCC) will also be set to discuss the security plans.
“Nire-remind namin na dapat two weeks before the event ma-submit ang requirements para may lead time tayo. What if hindi pumasa ang security plans nila, so they will have time to redo it (We are reminding event organizers to submit their requirements two weeks before the event to give us a lead time. If their security plans won’t be approved then they will have time to redo it),” she said in an interview with the City Information Office (CIO) on Thursday, March 3, 2022.
She added that strict compliance with the MPHS, particularly the wearing of face masks and physical distancing, must be observed in these MICE activities even though Davao City has already been placed under Alert Level 1 status from March 1 to 15, 2022.
