DCPO launched Operation Baklas

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) launched on Wednesday an Operation Baklas and started removing campaign materials put up outside the designated common poster areas in the city.

DCPO chief Col Alberto Lupaz, in his message said the Oplan Baklas was launched in accordance to the mandate of the Commission on election (Comelec) to remove the campaign materials illegally placed in undesignated areas.

” Bisan pa sa mga designated nga lugar didto gibutang karon nga gibutang ninyo nga wala pa campaign period nag andam nami naa na ang Baklas team ( Even though the [campaign materials] designated areas have been placed there, now that you have placed there is no campaign period yet, we are ready and the Baklas team is there [to remove it]),” Lupaz said.

The Oplan Baklas team are composed of personnel from Davao City Police Office, Comelec, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH).

The Comelec also urged candidates and their supporters to abide by the rules on the posting of campaign materials.

Recently, Atty Gay Enumerables, the assistant regional director and spokesperson of Comelec Davao said candidates should also observe the allowed sizes of campaign posters and materials.

Enumerables said “The campaign posters and tarpaulins placed in their headquarters should be three-by-eight feet only. We order them to remove all oversized materials since it violates the Comelec guidelines.”

Moreover, candidates for Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan election joined the forum, covenant signing and unity walk at People’s park in the city, around 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

DCPO chief Col Alberto Lupaz graced the activity with Task Force Davao commander Col Darren Comia, Welfred Morado, Election Assistant, Oscar Partuza, acting deputy head and operation of Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO).

Lupaz said the activity aims to ensure a safe, honest, orderly, and peaceful elections.
