TASK FORCE Davao commander Colonel Darren Comia reiterated his dedication to ensuring the safety of residents and visitors, especially as the city prepares for the upcoming Kadayawan Festival and Ironman 2024.
In an interview on Thursday evening, Comia thanked the support the unit received for the past three years and emphasized the critical role of public cooperation in maintaining security during these major events.
“We will be doing our best together with DCPO (Davao City Police Office) and other law enforcement agencies na maging maayos ang security this Kadayawan,” Comia added.
He further said, “We again request support and cooperation in all the security measures that we are implementing here in Davao City.”
He highlighted the influx of local and foreign tourists expected for the festivities and assured the public that Task Force Davao, in collaboration with the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and other law enforcement agencies, is working diligently to implement comprehensive security measures.
Comia invited Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) chief Angel Sumagaysay, Davao City Police Office’s newly designated acting director Col Hansen Marantan, 19 new police station commanders, and other law enforcement agencies with the media in a dinner initiative on Thursday evening at Task Force Davao headquarters.
While the security protocols are in place, Comia mentioned that they are continually being refined and enhanced.
Simulation exercises will be conducted to test the effectiveness of these measures, particularly for the Ironman event and other gatherings. Ongoing coordination meetings ensure that all aspects of security are thoroughly addressed.
Comia, who assumed his role as Task Force Davao commander in July 2021, reaffirmed his commitment to the city’s safety and expressed his satisfaction with his ongoing work in Davao.
Regarding the recent change in DCPO station commanders, Comia acknowledged the challenges it presents but emphasized the positive discussions and willingness of the new commanders to collaborate and fulfill their mandates.
Comia’s statements underscore the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the community in maintaining security during large-scale events like Kadayawan and Ironman 2024.
His commitment to refining security protocols and collaborating with other agencies reflects Task Force Davao’s proactive approach to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
