  • Radio broadcaster posts bail following arrest for online sex harassment

 

A VETERAN broadcaster posted bail on Friday, Sept. 27, after police served a warrant of arrest for online gender-based sexual harassment while he was at work at the radio station in Ulas, Talomo District. 

Captain Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office, identified the broadcaster only as alias Junior, a 55-year-old married man residing in Luzville Subdivision, Panacan.

TIMES attempted to reach out to Junior for comment but he has not responded as of this writing.

According to the report, the suspect was accosted at approximately 10:38 a.m. on Sept. 27, 2024, by the PS3-Talomo, led by Lt. Rizalde Suaga under the direct supervision of Major Genesis Oriel (acting station commander), 1105 MC RMFB XI led by Major Kevin Pamaos, and the Regional Anti-Cyber Crime Unit (RACU) XI led by Col. Artemio Ricabo.

The report stated that Junior was arrested on a warrant of arrest issued and signed by the MTCC XI Branch 6 Presiding Judge Sheila O. Resabal-Vinluan on Aug. 22, 2024.

The warrant pertained to Criminal Case No: M-DVO-24-04237-CR for gender-based online sexual harassment under Sec. 12, R.A. 11313 (Safe Spaces Act) with a recommended bail bond of P24,000.

Furthermore, the report indicated that the accused had a previous warrant of arrest for cyber-libel under R.A. No. 10175, with Criminal Case No. R-DVO-24-03788/89-CR issued and signed by RTC XI, Branch 10, Davao City.

The arrested individual was informed of his constitutional rights, in compliance with Supreme Court En Banc Resolution A.M. No. 21-06-08-SC, and turned over to the court.
