  • Activities outside FPRRD’s house suspended due to Monkeypox concern

Citing concerns over the emerging threat of Monkeypox (Mpox), the Doña Luisa Village Homeowners Association ruled to forbid outside visitors from gathering outside the house of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

The decision, formalized in a resolution adopted during a meeting of HOA officers on May 25, 2025, aims to prevent the contamination and rapid transmission of the virus, which has reportedly been “hovering” in several parts of Mindanao with monitored cases, including the Southern Philippines Medical Center.

According to the resolution, the measure is crucial for the “welfare and protection of the homeowners and tourists/visitors coming in,” particularly given the presence of vulnerable individuals such as persons with co-morbidity, the elderly, children, and even infants who frequently visit the premises.

The resolution explicitly states the risk of “untimely death” from face-to-face contact or even droplet transmission from a carrier.

For several months, numerous volunteers have been gathered outside the former President’s residence, reportedly maintaining a vigil following unconfirmed reports of potential raids.

This continuous presence likely contributed to the homeowners’ association’s decision to act proactively.

While the public gatherings and activities have been suspended, authorities are expected to continue providing security outside the former President’s home.

The move by the Doña Luisa Village Homeowners Association underscores growing vigilance against health threats like Mpox, particularly in areas with significant public interaction.
