Surrender or else

  • Davao City Police Office chief vows to hunt down robbery suspects

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) has issued a stern warning to the remaining suspects of the Feb. 26 pawnshop robbery along Ilustre Street to surrender as the P100,000 bounty will make their world a lot smaller.

Following the robbery, which resulted in the arrest of one suspect and five others remaining at large, DCPO acting director Col. Hansel Marantan addressed the robbers directly.

“Well, to the perpetrators, you have a choice. Your choice is to surrender, but we will go after you. That’s all I can say,” Marantan stated during a media interview last Feb. 26.

“We will kill them by arresting them and putting them in jail,” he added, emphasizing the DCPO’s commitment to bringing the suspects to justice.

Moreover, he hoped the arrest of one suspect may provide them with leads on the identities and the potential hideouts of the remaining perpetrators.

Nonetheless, Marantan expressed concern how the robbers managed to get hold of an assault rifle used in the robbery.

The DCPO has launched a manhunt for the remaining five suspects and urged the public to come forward with any information that could aid in their capture. The P100,000 bounty for each suspect is offered as an incentive for individuals to provide crucial leads.

On Wednesday, at around 10 a.m., three armed men barged into Hannah’s Pawnshop and took an undetermined amount of jewelry and valuables. However, police managed to arrest one suspect, a native of Albuera town in Leyte, in a hot pursuit. Authorities also recovered from the suspect various firearms and the loot said to be worth at least P40 million.

The DPCO asked anyone to report to the nearest police station or contact the following hotlines: 0998-598-7054 / 0919-070-222 / 0998-598-7057 and for telephone number 082-227-5777 for any information on the robbers.
