A grade 12 student was ganged up on and stabbed by his younger schoolmates in a feud that started from illegal gambling outside their school at Davao City National High School in Barangay 10-A, Poblacion around 12:30 p.m. yesterday.
Sr. Insp Maria Theresita Gaspan, the spokesperson of Davao City Police Office (DCPO), said the 18-year-old victim, Lowee, was ganged by five schoolmates, one of them stabbed him.
The Grade 12 student, a resident of Tahimik Avenue, Barangay Matina Crossing, Talomo District, sustained a lone stab wound on the left portion of his back near his shoulder.
One of the alleged attackers who was later said to have stabbed the victim was named as Johnny, a 17-year-old Grade 9 student from Bugac, Barangay Ma-a, Talomo District.
According to the victim’s classmates, they were walking together with the victim along Avanceña Street, around 30 meters away from the school, as they were heading to Tionko Street after taking a lunch in a nearby eatery at about 12:30 p.m.
Suddenly, a group of schoolmates, later identified as members of a gang called Tropang Narra or TPN, arrived and suddenly accosted the victim.
The five suspects allegedly ganged up the victim without any warning.
Johnny allegedly drew a knife and stabbed the victim.
The suspects fled towards Mabini Street in Brgy. 9-A.
Witnesses called for assistance.
The victim was rushed by Ambulance #27 of Central 911 to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).
The victim is currently under observation.
Report said the feud between the victim and his alleged attackers sparked from a personal grudge due to illegal gambling.
Both the victim and the alleged stabber were caught by a school teacher for playing gambling game called “Lucky 9” inside the premises of DCNHS on Thursday.
The San Pedro Police Precinct is now conducting a follow-up operation for the possible arrest of the suspects.
