A GRADE 11 student was arrested after a security guard found suspected marijuana in his possession as he entered a school on F. Torres Street, Barangay 10-A, Davao City, around 6:45 p.m. on Jan. 16.
The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) identified the student as Leo, 20, a resident of Pomelo Street, Ciudad de Esperanza, Buhangin.
The security guard, Arman, 41, works for DEN Security Agency and was on duty at the school’s main entrance.
During a routine security check, Arman discovered an improvised pipe with suspected burnt marijuana residue in the front pocket of Leo’s backpack.
Upon further inspection, Leo voluntarily produced a folded white paper containing suspected dried marijuana leaves and seeds from his pants pocket.
Police were called to the scene and confiscated the suspected marijuana. The evidence was marked and inventoried in the presence of witnesses, including the student. The estimated weight of the marijuana has a standard drug price of ₱84.00.
The student was taken into custody and will likely face charges related to possession of illegal drugs.
