The City of Mati is strengthening surveillance protocols as it enters the “new normal” under the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).
Dr. Ben Hur Catbagan Jr., Incident Management Team head, in a directive said the city will implement a more strict contact tracing of the passengers and individuals who will enter its borders.
City information officer Ben Jason Tesiorna said the Mati IMT will adapt the new surveillance protocol proposed by IATF regional head and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
“Contact tracing teams will validate the passenger or individual whether they will be placed under quarantine followed by a swab test,” he said, adding that once they tested positive, the contact tracing process will immediately begin.
“They will be referred to Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) if an individual shows moderate to severe symptoms,” Catbagan said, “to possibly cut early the chain of transmission”.
To the new arrivals, they are advised to register in their respective barangays. The contact tracing team, meanwhile, stated that surveillance mapping is being undertaken.
“As of now, the contact tracing team is still in 70% of this updated health system. They are advising Matinians to strictly observe the guidelines for Minimum Health Standards for safety,” Catbagan said.
