Southbound lane from KOJC- DIA now open to vehicles

THE SOUTHBOUND lane from the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) to Davao International Airport (Philippine-Japan Friendship Highway) was opened to traffic, Police Regional Office XI announced on Tuesday afternoon, August 27.

The Civil Disturbance Management personnel loosened the barricade of the three lanes.

However, two-way traffic is being observed as the northbound lane is still closed due to mobiles of the police.

On Sunday, Aug. 25, the members were able to secure a rally permit from the city government, allowing them to conduct a prayer vigil at the KOJC compound.

They were able to put up a makeshift stage and made a barricade out of their vehicles and heavy equipment.

The barricades made by the members blocked the entire six lanes from Jose Maria College to the airport entrance.

However, on Monday, Aug. 26, the members were dispersed by the police at 2:48 p.m. on after the third warning.

There were 18 resisting members pinned down and detained by the police in the PROXI office at Camp Catitipan, Buhangin.

As of the press writing, Regional Trial Court Presiding Judge Mario Duaves ordered the Philippine National Police XI to immediately cease and desist and remove any forms of barricades that bar the access of KOJC members to and from the compound. The order was issued on Tuesday afternoon, August 27.
