SENATOR Christopher Lawrence Go spearheaded a relief activity for 376 families and fire victims from puroks San Vicente, San Roque, and Sto. Niño, in Barangay Leon Garcia, Agdao, Davao City on Dec. 28, 2023.
Go emphasized the need for the government to strengthen the education for the public, particularly when it comes to fire protection.
“Importante gyud nga tudluan atoang mga kaigsuonan na mag-ingat palagi, huwag iwan ‘yung bata kapag nagluluto. Kaya nakikiusap po ako sa ating Bureau of Fire Protection na paigtingin pa, dahil meron naman tayong modernization (It’s critical that we teach everyone to always be vigilant and not leave the kids unsupervised while cooking. I’m asking the Bureau of Fire Protection to intensify our [information campaign] because we have a modernization program),” Go said.
Go also stated the Republic Act 11589, also known as the BFP Modernization Act, has put the Bureau of Fire Protection through a ten-year modernization program aimed at improving its readiness and equipment for handling fire situations.
The provisions of RA 11589, which Go authored and co-sponsored, include recruiting more firemen, providing specialized training, and purchasing new fire apparatus.
Go together with his team provided cash assistance, grocery packs, vitamins, water containers, meal packs to affected households in a gymnasium of Barangay Leon Garcia. He also raffled off bikes, shoes, watches, and cellular phones.
