  • Over 3,000 personnel to be deployed for Holy Week

MORE THAN 3,000 security personnel will be deployed in preparation for the upcoming Holy Week 2025 from April 13 to 20.

Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) head Angel Sumagaysay said the members of the core security cluster will include the Davao City Police Office, Task Force Davao, City Transport and Traffic Management Office, and other support units.

Sumagaysay shared that last year’s deployment was around 3,020, and they were stationed on known pilgrimage areas but also to secure tourist destinations, particularly beaches.

Just like last year, they will focus on 39 big churches across the city, including those located in far-flung areas like Paquibato and Marilog.

The major schedules for Holy Week are April 13 (Palm Sunday), April 14-16 (Recollection and Confession), April 17 (Chrism Mass), April 18 (Station of the Cross), April 19 (Easter Vigil), and April 20 (Easter Sunday).

The Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) also projects an influx of tourists for the long religious holiday as it starts utilizing the newly turned-over X-ray baggage machine to detect prohibited items like sharp objects or firearms.

Bus operators are also urged to secure a special permit to operate beyond their regular working hours to cater to the passengers.
