Barangay Mapula in Paquibato District, Davao City was the beneficiary of the Emilio Escandor Community Outreach Program last September 14, 2019.
A Medical Mission was conducted in full support of its advocacy of Peace 911, headed by TRMH General Manager Benjamen J. Banzon, Jr.
Volunteers who participated were from The Royal Mandaya Hotel, DASIA/KADSIA, and Medical Practitioners and Assistants. Also assisting were the 16th IB Bravo Company led by 1LT Renato D. Espeja, Jr., Barangay Mapula headed by Hon. Flora Manyawron and some Cluster 2 personnel of Peace 911, Barangay Mapula, Paquibato District, consisting of twenty-two Puroks with a total population of 900 families, majority of which are Indigenous People, most of them farmers.
Hon. Flora Manyawron was grateful for the Hotel’s generosity to the community in dire need of medical assistance. It was the first time a Medical Mission was conducted in their Barangay. More than three hundred patients availed of free medical examination by the volunteer doctors from the Philippine College of Occupational Medicine – Southern Mindanao Chapter, headed by Dr. Maria Dulce P. Panlo.
Free medicines and vitamins were given to the patients. Free eye examination and orientation was conducted. Free reading glasses by Dr. Eduardo Junior N. Suello, OD of EJNS Optical Clinic were given to the patients. Those who needed dental care underwent free tooth extraction by Dr. Aisha D. Biston of Prinzes Smile Dental Clinic.
Used clothes, books, bags, shoes and brand new slippers were also distributed while males, ages six and above were given free haircut.
The community was provided with nutritious food and drinks.
