SCENE CITY | Museo Dabawenyo Event Center‘s grand opening

A NEW location for the rich cultural diversity of Davao City, Museo Dabawenyo Event Center is now open to the public, accessible to students, tourists, and researchers.  A ceremonial ritual was performed by the Lumad representatives of the Bagobo Tribe to mark the occasion.

Councilor Pilar C. Braga, chairperson of the committee on education, science and technology, arts and culture, welcomed the guests on May 9, 2025, saying, “I deeply believe that a city that honors its past builds a stronger, more grounded future. When our children walk through these halls and see the artifacts, the artwork, the traditions, they see themselves. They understand that they, too, are part of this beautiful legacy.”

Braga mentioned that the relocation of the Museo Dabawenyo reflected the City Government of Davao’s unwavering commitment to cultural development, accessibility, and lifelong learning.

“I commend the leadership of Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte, our city officials, and the hardworking staff behind Museo Dabawenyo for making this vision a reality. This enduring commitment is built on the strong foundation laid by our former mayors – former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and now Vice President Inday Sara Z. Duterte, both of whom have been staunch advocates for the preservation and promotion of Davao’s rich cultural, artistic, and historical heritage.”

Admission to the Museo Dabawenyo is free and is open from Monday to Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It is located at Mabini Extension, at the compound of the Davao City National High School.
