SCENE CITY | Dayao Study Center breaks ground

HAVING a permanent home for all the activities of Lamdag Foundation is a dream come true.  Lamdag is a Visayan word that means to give light or to enlighten.

Monthly sessions and meetings, talks on character formation, professional and cultural development, as well as talks on church doctrines, are held at a temporary home at present. This is at the Quinto apartments in Ecoland, Davao City.

The site of the future Dayao Center is the former location of the ancestral home of the Facundo family along Pardo de Tavera St. in Davao City. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on March 22, 2025.

Alicia Facundo Del Mundo relates how she became interested in the activities of a group in 1983, composed of friends who were active members of Opus Dei, founded by Fr. Josemaria Escriva.

At the ground-breaking ceremony, Alice del Mundo said, “We foresee that the future home of Dayao will be filled with formative activities for women from grade school girls, high school students, college students, young professionals, even grandmas and great grandmas who will come to realize and appreciate the role of the woman to transform society.  Our goal in Dayao is to transform women in order to transform society.”

Aside from attending recollections, the monthly sessions and talks were preceded by cooking and baking demos and talks to help them make the home bright and cheerful.
