VICE PRESIDENT and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte clarified the status of the UniTeam with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. amid the rumored looming suspension of Mayor Sebastian Duterte.
She said her tandem with President Marcos was only formed for the purpose of winning the 2022 elections.
“I think I answered that question kaniadto sa isa ka interview ang (I think I answered that question before in an interview that) UniTeam was the tandem during the 2022 elections and then tandem of Bongbong-Sara during the 2022 elections,” she told reporters at the sidelines of the Independence Day celebration at Rizal Park on Wednesday.
She said their political alliance obviously worked because they defeated their respective opponents.
When asked if the UniTeam no longer exists following their electoral win, the top official replied: “Wala…We are not candidates anymore.”
