Mayor Duterte has clarified that the voice recording currently circulating online is not her.
A voice recording is circulating in social media, particularly on Facebook, mimicking the voice of the chief executive that allegedly warned people who attended a cockpit derby at the Matina Galleria about possible infection.
“For the record, please stop sending and re-sending that voice message because you know, that if I have an announcement, I do not directly tell it only to my friends,” she said during the interview with Davao City Disaster Radio on Friday.
“I may say things like that but not in my job. Please, that is not my accent. That is not my voice recording telling you to hide yourselves. That is not me,” she added.
Duterte said if she has any information concerning the public, she addresses it directly through the city’s radio program.
“I announce it to everybody. That’s it. My friends do not have the advantage of getting information from me,” she stressed, noting that everytime her friends ask her about the status of patients admitted to the Southern Philippine Medical Center, she tells them to directly ask the Department of Health.
“[W]hich is I also keep on reminding the public. We listen only to the Department of Health on whatever information they are going to release. Otherwise, if we give our own information, and then there are different stories, (it) will create confusion and resentment to the people,” she said.
Duterte said that her job is to ensure that whatever the doctors tell for everyone to do to control the spread of the virus must be done.
“That is my job here. I am not the one concerned to address the matters on the admission of the patients, who are the PUIs, PUMs, what are their statuses. That is not part of my job right now. My job is to ensure that infection is controlled and to ensure the measures given by the doctors for us to do to contain the infection is properly executed in our barangays,” Duterte said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Duterte also denied the text message circulating around the city stating that the curfew in the city is already at 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. “The curfew starts at 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The liquor ban is from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. So I do not know where that 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew came from,” she said.
