THE PUBLIC Safety and Security Office (PSSO) imposed a ban on drones flying around San Pedro Square during the culminating activities of the Kadayawan Festival on August 19 to 20.

“Definitely, if President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte will attend, there would be no (flying of) drone,” PSSO chief Angel Sumagaysay said in an interview on Sunday.

Bisag wala pod sila mam no drone pa rin (Even though they won’t attend, no drones would still be allowed),” Sumagaysay said.

The PSSO recommended the no-fly zone for Indak-Indak in Kadayawan and Pamulak during a meeting called by the Kadayawan event organizer on Aug. 11.

To prevent drones from flying, the PSSO planned to install a jammer at the venue site but it may also interrupt the signal of the cell sites.

Moreover, he asked Davaoeños and visitors to enjoy the show and enjoy the festivities while still remaining vigilant. He said pickpockets and thieves might take advantage of the crowd and the situation to prey on their victims.

He also urged the public to cooperate with the law enforcers in ensuring the Kadayawan celebration will be orderly and peaceful.

“Hopefully they will be our partner in implementing security. There are security personnel around us and they are not shy to come forward to file charges. Just enjoy and be happy everyone,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is still awaiting the approval of Camp Crame on its request to suspend the Permit To Carry Firearms (gun ban) from August 18 to 25.
