  • CTTMO announces traffic rerouting scheme for Duaw Davao Pride Parade


THE CITY Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) advised the public to observe the traffic scheme for an orderly celebration of the Duaw Davao Pride Parade on Sunday, June 23.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, June 20, CTTMO revealed that the parade route would start from Roxas Avenue (side of Marco Polo Hotel) left turn to C. Bangoy Street then a left turn to San Pedro Street 

Entry going to San Pedro Street is not allowed in Corner C.M.Recto Avenue to San Pedro Street;  Corner Bolton Street to Rizal Street; and Corner C.Bangoy Street-Rizal Street

Motorists are advised not to park along Roxas Avenue (from C.M.Recto Avenue to Ponciano Rotonda); C.M.Recto Avenue (from Rizal Street to Roxas Avenue); C. Bangoy Street (from Rotonda to San Pedro Street) and San Pedro Street (from C.M.Recto Avenue to C.Bangoy Street) on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the parade ends. 

Meanwhile, a temporary “no left side parking” is advised along C. Bangoy Street and C. M. Recto Avenue. 

Two-way traffic will be observed along the Post Office Side in Roxas Avenue. 

During Habi at Kape on May 29, CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude initially announced they would close roads for the Pride Parade and Fiesta sa San Pedro Paghiusayaw on June 29.

However, Abude said the rest of the events do not entail road closure since they will be held in Rizal Park, USEP gym, and Almendras Gym.

A total of 3224 personnel will be deployed to secure the festivities from June 21 to 30, Angel Sumagaysay, Public Safety and Security Office chief said during the iSpeak Media Forum on June 6.

Sumagaysay said the average daily deployment for the nine-day celebration is 460 stationed in various points of convergence. 

The Pride Parade is one of the activities for the Duaw Davao 2024 that are in line with the annual celebration of Pride Month in support of the LGBTQIA+ community. This includes Pride sports fest from June 21 to 23 in Almendras Gym, Reyna ng Davao Coronation Night at USEP Gym on June 22, 5 p.m.

Duaw Davao includes other events such as Hugyaw Davao: Night of Fun and Colors;  the Davao Turismo Arts and Food Trucks Bazaar; Fiesta sa San Pedro: Paghiusayaw at San Pedro Square; and the Inter-Barangay Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) tournament.

Duaw Davao was formerly known to be part of the Davao Summer Festival along with the Department of Tourism XI in 2018, which was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
