The City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) has bared the traffic plan, including road closures, for the 82nd Araw ng Davao activities next month.
On the afternoon of March 9, a Saturday, the CTTMO will be closing the half lane of the streets outside the Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Elementary School — from C. Bangoy (formerly Ponciano) Street near PLDT until the exit gate of People’s Park at Palma Gil Street.
The closed area will be reserved for the contingents of Hudyaka, the drum and bugle corps competition that will start at 2 p.m. at the People’s Park.
On March 16 from 7 a.m. to 12 noon, several streets will be closed.
The parade route will start at Roxas Avenue, then to C.M. Recto Street, then right turn at Bonifacio Street, then left turn to Pelayo Street and another left turn to San Pedro Street all the way to Rizal Park.
“With that, we will close a number of streets, adjacent corner intersections that we can close down (for the activity),” CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude said on Thursday.
Those from north are advised to use these alternate routes: J.P Laurel Avenue-Quirino Avenue–MacArthur Highway; J.P. Laurel Avenue–R. Castillo Street–Garcia Street–Quezon Boulevard–Quimpo Boulevard– MacArthur Highway; J.P. Laurel Avenue–Cabaguio Avenue–L. Garcia Street– Quezon Boulevard–Quimpo Boulevard–MacArthur Highway.
Those from south are advised to use: MacArthur Highway–Quirino Avenue–J.P. Laurel Avenue; MacArthur Highway–Magallanes Street–Quezon Boulevard; MacArthur Highway–GE Torres Street (formerly Sandawa Road)–Quimpo Boulevard; MacArthur Highway–Quimpo Boulevard–Quezon Boulevard.
At least 200 field personnel will be deployed along the parade route and adjacent streets to control the traffic.
