Authorities assured that no residents were allowed outside their homes since the lockdown was enforced in some barangays.
Capt. Rosario Aguilar, Davao City Police Office spokesperson, said in a virtual presser last week that 50 police personnel were deployed in barangays 23-C and 21-C. They are supported by barangay watchmen and soldiers of the Task Force Davao.
The city police office has placed four checkpoints in Purok 3, 4, and 7 in Barangay 23-C and Purok 8 in Brgy. 21.
As of now, there are already 16 streets in the city that have been placed or in lockdown.
Also, Coast Guard Davao station commander Garry Laynesa told TIMES that they are watching the coasts to make sure that no residents will sneak out through the sea.
“So far, no one was arrested by the coast guard and the other agencies from the time of the lockdown on several coastal Barangays in Davao City,” Laynesa said.
The Coast Guard Davao, Task Force Davao, Navy, and Maritime Police are taking turns every three hours to secure the beach 24/7. Their order was to ban people from swimming or fishing while the quarantine is in effect.
Meanwhile, Aguilar noticed that the food and medicine pass and clustering have helped reduce the number of people outside of their residences. To date, the police have arrested 1,283 community quarantine and enhanced community quarantine violators.
She said the violations range from abuse of the food and medicine pass, curfew, liquor ban, and social distancing. “We filed a total of 429 cases for these violations,” Aguilar said.
