Record-breaking

IN PERHAPS the fastest turnover in recent history, PCol. Lito Patay was relieved from his position on Wednesday, July 10, after just three hours as head of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).

This was confirmed by PRO XI spokesperson Major Catherine Dela Rey on Wednesday afternoon.

Colonel Sherwin Butil, the current chief of the Regional Information and Communication  Technology Management Division or R10, replaced Patay, who was named the chief of the Regional Operations Division of Police Regional Office XI.

Patay formally assumed office as the acting director of the DCPO on Wednesday, July 10 around 7:40 a.m.

Patay immediately convened DCPO officers, including newly assigned station commanders, at headquarters around 8 a.m.

Just before noon, he received the order to stand down.

Tuazon noted that the initial discussions focused on DCPO’s operational priorities, particularly maintaining peace and order.

The 19 newly designated station commanders, many from provincial assignments, were instructed to prioritize public service.

“They were chosen based on their accomplishments in other areas, and we trust the regional director’s decision,” Tuazon said. “We assure the public that the programs initiated by previous commanders will continue.”

Tuazon emphasized that DCPO aims to maintain its top performance within PRO XI under the new leadership.

“We will overcome any challenges and strive to provide even better service to the public,” she stated, acknowledging the ongoing support of the local government and barangay officials in maintaining peace in Davao City.

Meanwhile, PCol. Alberto Lupaz, previously the chief of the Regional Operations Division, is now the chief of the Regional Information and Communications Technology Management Division, Butil’s previous designation.

Former acting director Colonel Rolindo Suguilon will now focus on his role as deputy regional director for operations of PRO XI.
