Ready for polls

WITH THE May 12 elections fast approaching, Davao City is gearing up for a smooth and efficient voting process with the deployment of 1,173 automated counting machines (ACMs).

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has allocated these machines to the city’s three districts, ensuring that each polling precinct is equipped with automated voting system.

The distribution of ACMs across the districts is as follows: District 1 will receive 418 machines, District 2 will be allocated 385 machines, and District 3 will have 370 machines.

According to the Comelec, the distribution depends on the number of registered voters in each district.

The ACMs are scheduled to be delivered to the designated storage hub at the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) headquarters on May 1.

The strategic placement ensures the security and integrity of the machines prior to their deployment to polling precincts.

The Comelec is also conducting thorough testing and maintenance of the ACMs to ensure optimal working conditions on election day.

Meanwhile, voters are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the automated voting process and exercise their right to vote.
