A RADIO DJ died on the spot after he smashed into a prime mover truck while driving his motorcycle along MacArthur Highway, Barangay Dumoy at 6:40 p.m. on Jan 20.
Police identified the victim as Orlando Maratas II, married, and a resident of Durian St., Manggahan, Crossing Bayabas, Toril District.
The prime mover truck was driven by Marlou Mamac Bustamante, male, married, and a resident of Purok 40, Km. 8, Ulas Crossing.
According to the report, Maratas was heading south on his red Honda motorcycle along MacArthur highway. The collision occurred in front in front of San Isidro chapel when the truck allegedly encroached on the motorcycle’s lane while traveling in the opposite direction.
The victim was thrown off his motorcycle due to the impact. The Dumoy Barangay Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Center (BDRRMC) first responded to the scene and declared him dead on the spot. This was confirmed by the attending Physician.
The truck driver was brought to the Talomo Police Station and a case for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide was filed against him.
