PSSO to repair coastal lights before IRONMAN 70.3

THE PUBLIC Safety and Security Office (PSSO) intends to repair the broken Davao City Coastal Road lights before the start of IRONMAN 70.3 on Aug. 11. 

During the iSpeak press conference on July 11, PSSO head Angel Sumagaysay said they are coordinating with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to install the lights.

“Ongoing ang installation ng suga. Hopefully, mapadali nato ni siya ipa suga in coordination with the city government, DPWH, and Davao Light kay ang target nato before mag IRONMAN kani tanan muilaw na dyud ni,” Sagaysay said.

Of the 494 streetlights in segment 1 of the coastal road, 169 are currently non-functional. The first segment of the coastal road covers Ecoland to Bago Aplaya.

Ang number of streetlights diria (coastal road segment 1) is 494. As of now, naa tay functional na 325 and ang non-functional nato na ongoing karon is 169. Mao na siya karon ang atong ginatabangan,” he explained. 

The PSSO also plans to set up CCTV cameras across the coastal road before the start of IRONMAN.

The IRONMAN 70.3 Davao is a triathlon event that features the newly inaugurated Davao City Coastal Road. Participants will swim 1.9 kilometers to the coast, cycle 90 kilometers toward MacArthur Highway, and back at the coastal road for a 21.1-kilometer run.
