THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) clarified that the reported robbery incident involving a businessman in Barangay Mudiang, Bunawan on May 29, 2024, was fabricated.
Bunawan Police Station commander Major Jake Goles immediately ordered an investigation after receiving the initial report from a 25-year-old businessman who claimed he was robbed of P320,000.
Incoherencies in the victim’s story led to a deeper probe, and police later dismissed the report as false.
On May 31, the victim admitted to fabricating the robbery due to personal debt. The DCPO, under officer-in-charge Colonel Rolindo Suguilon, emphasized that false reports causing public alarm will be prosecuted.
The DCPO remains committed to fighting crime and maintaining peace and order, working alongside the local government and other agencies.
