Police intensify operations vs. modified mufflers, traffic violations

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO), along with its 19 police stations and the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), conducted a successful week-long operation on May 5-11, 2024, targeting modified mufflers (bora-bora) and other traffic violations.

The operations on modified mufflers resulted in 28 citations issued with fines totaling P38,500 (CTC: P13,500, TOP: P25,000).

The police also launched 405 operations for Republic Act RA 4136 violations, resulting in 305 temporary operator’s permits (TOPs) issued and P665,031 in collected fines.

For the Local Traffic Code (C.O. 0334-12), authorities reported 622 operations with 2,597 citations issued and P1,290,200 in collected fines.

For the Speed Limit Ordinance (C.O. 0270-23), traffic enforcers flagged 526 motorists and issued P526,000 in total fines.

Finally, DCPO reported a total of P100,000 in fines from the 122 apprehensions for no helmets and 78 apprehensions for no plates. 

For the period, the police collected P2,619,731 in fines covering all apprehensions.

DCPO City Director Col Bad-ang commends the TEU and police stations for their efforts and emphasizes the importance of these operations in creating safer roads for everyone. 

Bad-ang said the initiative aims to ensure traffic violators are held accountable and raise awareness about traffic laws. He urged motorists to adhere to local and traffic laws to avoid incurring penalties.
