Police continue probe on condo couple’s killing

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) is still awaiting the blood test results on the couple killed in a condominium unit in Bajada last April 20.

The victims, Jennifer Chavez and Jeffrey Predas were found in separate areas of the condo building. Blood stains were recovered from the room next to them.

City police director Col Richard Bad-ang hoped the DNA samples from the bloodstains could help point to the perpetrators.

In an ambush interview on Friday afternoon, Bad-ang said investigators found the blood in Room 323, which the two persons of interest—identified as Clark and Ivan—occupied.

Autopsy results revealed that Predas was already dead from stab wounds when he was thrown off the condominium window. Meanwhile, Chavez also sustained defensive wounds, further indicating a violent attack.

Predas was found dead on the ground floor with nine stab wounds at 5:25 a.m. on April 21, 2024. At 10:24 p.m. on the same day, Chavez’s body was found inside Room 319.

Accordingly, Clark, a resident of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, booked Room 319 for Chavez and Predas. Meanwhile, both persons of interest occupied Room 323, where the bloodstains were found.

“POI (person of interest) number 2 (Ivan) had no contact with the victim. He was a companion only of POI number 1,” he said.

Bad-ang said only Clark had access to Room 319.

Both Clark and Ivan were already released after the 36-hour reglementary period lapsed.

If pag mag positive yun possibly we will file a case against the persons of interest,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said the investigation focused on a love triangle as the possible motive. The first theory of double-suicide was ruled out since Predas died before he was “intentionally thrown to the ground.”

He said the perpetrators must have thrown the victim’s body to throw off the investigators.
