THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) generated over P1.2 million in fines from traffic violators in a recent crackdown on modified mufflers, bora-bora motorcycles, and other violations.

From June 16 to 22, DCPO’s Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) and 19 police stations conducted operations across the city, focusing on motorist and pedestrian safety.

These operations resulted in 658 operations targeting violations of City Ordinance 0334-12, with 1,494 citation tickets issued, generating P699,400 in fines.

Also, 281 apprehensions under City Ordinance 0270-23 (Speed Limit Ordinance), resulted in P281,000 in fines.

A total of 410 operations related to RA 4136, with 100 Temporary Operator’s Permits issued and P229,608 collected in fines.

Moreover, 69 apprehensions for “No Helmet, No Travel,” resulting in P34,500 in fines; and six apprehensions for “No Plate, No Travel,” resulting in P3,000 in fines.

“These fines are proof that there are still individuals not abiding by the rules and regulations on our roads,” said DCPO acting chief Col. Rolando Suguilon.

“We urge all motorists to respect and adhere to traffic laws to avoid inconvenience and accidents. Making the roads safe is vital for our families and all residents of Davao City,” Suguilon said.
