A BARANGAY chairman and his wife were allegedly ambushed by unidentified perpetrators at Purok 1, Barangay Salumay, Marilog District, around 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
The wife was reported injured in her right knee.
Captain Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson for the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), identified the victims as Lito Mansamo, 47, the barangay captain of Salumay, Marilog District (not injured), and his wife, Alma Zarate Mansamo, 45, who was injured in her right knee.
According to the initial investigation, while the victims were traveling in their service vehicle on Bukidnon Road, two unidentified suspects wearing bonnets and armed with long and short firearms blocked their way upon reaching Purok 1, Barangay Salumay, Marilog District.
The suspects then shot the victims multiple times while they were inside the vehicle, injuring Alma Mansamo in her right knee.
After the shooting, the suspects fled in an unknown direction.
Personnel from this office are now conducting a hot pursuit operation to apprehend the suspects.
