AUTHORITIES apprehended three individuals, including two minors, in connection with an alleged series of recent robberies following a police operation in Purok 12-A Saint John Sinkwang, Barangay 76-A Bucana, on Sept. 13.
Captain Hazel Tuazon, the spokesperson for the Davao City Police Office, identified the suspects as John, 19, a resident of Purok 12-A, St. John, Barangay 76-A; alias Joe, 17, a resident of Talaingod, Davao Del Norte; and alias Adrian, 16, a resident of Arroyo Compound, Matina Crossing.
The victim, identified as Maria, 28, a resident of Iwha Village Dumoy, reported her Samsung A71 phone, worth P22,000, was forcibly taken by perpetrators at Opal Street corner Veloso Street, Barangay Paciano Bangoy.
According to the report, the Bajada police personnel received information that individuals known as Dot-Dot and Ken-Ken were the perpetrators and hiding in the area.
Around 4:45 p.m. on the same day, the informant, along with the operating team and the victim, went to the suspects’ hideout. Upon arrival, the suspects noticed the police presence and fired their pistol at the officers before fleeing in different directions.
Responding police officers returned fire and apprehended three male suspects.
However, Ken-Ken, identified as the one who shot at the police, managed to evade arrest, leaving behind a .38 revolver without a serial number and two spent cartridge cases.
The victim positively identified Dot-Dot as one of the suspects who robbed her and drove the motorcycle.
Recovered from the scene were a .38 caliber revolver loaded with two live rounds, two spent cartridge cases, and a Suzuki motorcycle.
Further investigation revealed that the suspects were allegedly involved in a series of robberies in the areas of Sasa, Buhangin, Sta. Ana, and Bajada. Their modus operandi involved ransacking roll-up doors of target establishments.
The arrested suspects were informed of their rights and the nature of their arrest in a language they understood. Police said the suspects chose to remain silent.
Meanwhile, the confiscated evidence was brought to the police station for proper disposition.
