PNVSCA, PIA to invite nominees for Bayanihan Media Awards

THE PHILIPPINE National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), invited media practitioners to submit their entries for the Bayanihan Media Awards.

On Sept. 2 at the Kapehan sa Dabaw, PIA XI regional director Reye V. Carbayas said that the competition is intended for media practitioners who are promoting volunteerism in their platforms whether they have feature stories, talk shows, social media content, vlogs, among others.

Carbayas highlighted that the bayanihan spirit or sense of volunteerism is innate in Filipino values and is still relevant today when it comes to facing current issues or concerns in the Philippines.

The launching started last Aug. 9 and the deadline for the submissions will be on September 20. Media practitioners who are interested in submitting their nominations can send them to any PIA offices, personnel, or PIA’s partners.

Four categories for the competition contain the best volunteerism reporting for print media, television, radio, and online media.

In the guidelines, the online media category requires a media practitioner with news, feature, editorial type of article, segment, or report on volunteerism and its contribution to national development that has been published in online media.

“So paglumabas siya [news] sa any online platforms Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok ba yan siya. Anything online na siya na platform, basta a legit individual media personality na nag produce siya nitong mga material is eligible,” he said.

The news coverage published by the media practitioners on volunteerism that are eligible are from September 2023 to June 2024.
